Designer Richard Frinier Honored With ADEX Award for Architexture Collection of Sunbrella Fabrics

Collection Inspired by Architectural Design Elements Wins ADEX Platinum Design Excellence Award

The Architexture Collection of performance textiles from the Richard Frinier Collection of Sunbrella® Fabrics recently garnered an ADEX Platinum Award for Design Excellence. With more than 600 entries in the 2018-2019 entry period, ADEX is one of the largest and most resourced award programs for furnishings and building materials in the architecture and design communities.

Richard Frinier’s Architexture Collection, which showcases the designer’s strong respect and appreciation for the importance architecture plays in society, echoes architectural design elements found in surface and building facade design across a versatile range of textiles with distinctive constructions, textures, patterns and colors.

“I became inspired by the growing architectural movement taking place that involves the surfacing and resurfacing of buildings around the world,” Frinier said. “Captivated by the many unique layers and materials including metals, glass, concrete and other new and repurposed materials used to create these remarkable facades, I made blueprints of photographs of buildings and then they were translated into textiles.”

“Richard is an extraordinary talent and his work continues to push the boundaries of performance and design,” said Greg Voorhis, Executive Director of Design for Glen Raven. “We’re very proud of our ongoing partnership and congratulate him on the ADEX Award and his continued success.”

ADEX Awards winners are chosen by an anonymous panel of professionals representing a cross section of the design industry. The ADEX Awards represent the best product and project designs of the year.

Fabrics in the Architexture Collection enhance and complement both interior and exterior spaces and are available exclusively to the trade through Pindler.
