Three elegant collections offer customers a range of classic solids and design details for upholstery applications
The Sunbrella® showroom was brimming with activity last week for Showtime, as three new fabric collections were presented encompassing a range of high-end, unique design details and color combinations. From elegant pastels to rich colors and hand-crafted details, the collections represent the fabric brand’s latest foray into the interior upholstery market.
“This Showtime is about color for us, but with an emphasis on unique combinations of color and fabric layering,” said Gina Wicker, design and creative director for Sunbrella fabrics. “Texture also continues to be a strong point for us, and our Showtime collections are a prime example of yarn innovation and weaving advances that allow us to bring our customers the softest and most durable upholstery fabrics available.”
The Sunbrella fabric Showtime collections – Artisan, Dusted and Ivy League – further emphasized the Sunbrella brand as an interior upholstery solution.
Fabrics in the Artisan collection are grounded in the craft influence and incorporate a style of handmade details resulting in fabrics that have a unique or one-of-a kind feel to them. The collection features vibrant colors combined with textured neutrals for an eclectic mix of storied patterning and comfortable, familiar textures.
Patterns in the collection, such as the multi layered Artisan Celebration and cheerful Folklore Afterglow, are inspired by cross stitching and feature tonal grounds with bright color accents in a deliberate pattern. Drawing inspiration from the comfort of a layered quilt is Emerson Fiesta, a fabric with interlocking squares of plaid. The solid Volt Glow complements Emerson with a cheerful orange hue.
Textured solids Venture Denim and Venture Alpaca add a homespun look with their recycled Sunbrella Renaissance content. The whimsical Bohemian Woodgrain invokes earthy colors in a pattern reminiscent of intricate tree bark.
With a soft pastel color palette and elegantly-textured solid fabrics, the Dusted collection encourages the layering of matte color with textured color in a monochromatic scheme. The collection is comprised of Meridian, a chambray solid in the colors Meadow, Mist, Rose, Wisteria, Pewter and Latte, alternately layered with the boucle texture Couture in Honeydew, Mist, Rose, Lavender, Smoke and Mink. The result is an elegant pastel rainbow of fabrics that brings to mind a closet full of refined Chanel suits.
“Dusted is as understated as Artisan is bold, a stately contrast that shows the design depth of the Sunbrella line,” Wicker said. “The color story is surpassed only by the elegant texture of the fabrics, which lend themselves to a variety of upholstery applications.”
Landing at the opposite end of the color spectrum is Ivy League, a collection comprised of clean, crisp neutrals and bright, peppy hues. The overall feel is casual yet sophisticated, inspired by the classic colors associated with leisure activities such as tennis and yachting.
The crisp, layered geometric Dwell Breeze leads the collection and combines a matte ground with saturated color accents in a hollow outlined design. Striped patterns Extend Breeze and Chronicle Emerald bring a linear feel with stripes in various shades of turquoise, blue and green. Houndstooth is a new interpretation of a classic design, available in the gold and grey Spark or navy and turquoise Lagoon combination. The solid fabrics Volt Emerald and Echo Citron accent the patterns in the collection with their vibrant green hues.
