Joe Ruggiero's 'Design Travels' at High Point

Visit the Sunbrella® Fabric Vignettes at The MT Company Showroom

Iconic designer Joe Ruggiero combines elegance with contemporary style, and is profoundly influenced by his worldly travels. During the April High Point Market, Ruggiero will showcase ‘Design Travels,’ travel-inspired vignettes highlighting his extensive collection of Sunbrella® fabrics in The MT Company showroom.

“I have visited numerous timeless cities during my travels and they have left everlasting impressions,” Ruggiero said. “I use a composite of my travel memories in my designs – it’s impossible for me to choose a favorite. From masculine retreats to urban lofts, I look forward to sharing inspiration from my adventures at High Point Market.”

Greeted by a masculine mountain retreat, visitors are charmed by two vignettes surrounding a fireplace creating a beautiful living space. With inspiration from mountain ranges across the globe, the first atmosphere includes the luxuriously soft chenille, Tailored Smoke, on the Salon sofa. Mixed in is rugged and refined Abbott Char, traditional stripe Hanson Classic and herringbone Harris Stone to complete the sophisticated vignette.

The connected room mirrors the masculinity of its complement, with deep, dark woods and rich textiles with the look and feel of worsted wool. A Maxfield Sofa in Tailored Shade is balanced with the deep navy and golden hints in Hartley II Shadow and finished with Abbott Shadow

Ruggiero shares his affinity for the metropolitan design of New York City with a bold black and white space. Featuring satin black walls, the room showcases brass-framed chairs upholstered in Hartley II Smoke and a modular sofa in Huntsman Salt. Accent fabrics Zebra Classic, a playful animal motif, Agra Classic, an ikat-inspired pattern, and textural Kenya Charcoal pop against white wood to finish this contemporary environment.

A contemporary vignette with a Swedish ambience flaunts a modular sofa in Sensational Parchment, a tight, herringbone tweed, and is accented by lush Quilted Storm while Lattice Storm introduces a pop of pattern in a modern geometric.

Inspired by contemporary Asian culture, Ruggiero layers textural elements for added interest. A Tribecca Sofa in Tailored Putty is paired with pillows in Kuno Meadow, inspired by ancient Japanese shibori dyeing techniques. The sofa coordinates beautifully with chairs in Squared Putty, a window pane check pattern, and drapery in Quilted Storm.

Ruggiero brings true elegance with a Paris-inspired vignette, filled with architectural elements and serene neutrals. Flattering achromatic grey tones are showcased in a deep-seated Colette Sofa upholstered in Boss Tweed Storm, and flanked by Salon chairs in Blur Linen and Harris Parchment. This vignette is reminiscent of chic Paris salons.

“My travels bring a unique perspective to my collection of Sunbrella fabrics,” Ruggiero said. “With a global aesthetic, my fabrics allow homeowners to create spaces that inspire, including luxurious textures and beautiful designs, and the performance characteristics Sunbrella is known for – fade proof, easy care and bleach cleanability.”

Ruggiero will showcase “Design Travels” during High Point Market April 22-26 in The MT Company showroom located on the second floor of 311 N. Hamilton Street in High Point.
